As with any investment, certain returns are expected. If you invest money, you should expect some level of interest. The same can be said of liposuction or other body shaping procedures, such as accusculpt or laser lifting. If you make the effort to go under the knife or laser and spend your hard earned money, it is important to keep the results. Many patients assume that since they have liposuction or fat dissolving injections, that the results will stay and they can return to the same life style, which is not the case.
The decision to undergo surgical or non-surgical fat removal will most definitely result in an improvement in the appearance and contour of your body. Most people report a boost in self-esteem after undergoing liposuction, for example. However, it is important to note that a lifestyle change is also needed to maintain the newly acquired shape. While this might seem a little intimidating, the small investment of time and discipline will have huge payouts in less medical costs and a higher standard of living.
A vital step in keeping your weight down is to exercise regularly, such as going to the gym or for regular walks or bicycle rides. In the immediate aftermath, it is best to avoid intense, vigorous exercise while you’re recovering from your procedure. It is good for patients to walk as much as possible in the days and weeks following the surgery. Not only will this help prevent blood clots and other complications, it can also help you feel normal more quickly. When your life returns to normal, it is important to include at least 2 or 3 30 minute exercises each week.
The most important addition to regular exercise is eating healthy. In general, you want to add more fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean protein into your diet (such as chicken and fish), while reducing the intake of sugars, red meats (beef), simple carbohydrates and saturated fats. Eating several smaller meals throughout the day will help maintain your energy levels and keep you from feeling deprived between meals. Drinking a sufficient amount of water during the day is also important. Staying hydrated helps control hunger, maintains a healthy metabolism and aids in digestion. Be sure to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day or more.
The key word to remember is moderation. The dictionary defines moderation as an “avoidance of extremes or excesses”. Snack foods for example, need not be completely eliminated from your diet. However, they should definitely be reduced or used as a reward to yourself. Also, while getting exercise is a vital important part of health, over exercising can also put tremendous strain on the body, and lead to health problems. Finding a healthy balance between exercising and rest is an important part in maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
While liposuction is a quick fix, it is by no stretch permanent. At Dodream Plastic Surgery, we always strive to provide you with accurate information and lasting results. Which is why we want to see you stay slim! Protect your investment in yourself and start making lifestyle changes after your procedure. By maintaining a regular exercise schedule, getting plenty of rest (8 hours a night), eating a good diet and choosing a healthy lifestyle, your life will be dramatically improved on all levels.
Choosing the Right Implant for You
Breasts implants were introduced over 50 years ago in Europe and have quickly made their way around the world. Because there is such a huge demand for these surgical enhancements, the field has been ever growing and expanding, with each generation offering more benefits while minimalizing risk.
There are basically two kinds of implants which are mostly commonly used, saline and silicone. Both have their pros and cons and the purpose of this blog is to provide you with accurate and honest information. As always, a consultation with our highly trained doctors is your best bet to determining which one is best for you.
Saline- Saline implants are made of a silicone gel shell and filled with a natural solution, which can vary in size.
Pros- Because the saline is natural (salt water), they can be easily absorbed back into the body. In addition to this, because the implants can be filled after insertion, there is less of an incision size and thus less scaring. There is also flexible volume, which can be adjusted during surgery- this can be useful for women with asymmetrical breasts. Finally, because the fact that the saline is absorbed back into the body, leakage detection can be easier and more immediate- as the breast will quickly lose volume.
Cons- One of the main draw backs of saline implants is that they can shift. Also, the saline can make the breast seem more firm and also cause folds and ripples on the breasts. They can also make the breast tissue feel more firm, thus giving an unnatural feel.
Silicone- Silicone implants are made of a synthetic gel, which can be rippled or smooth.
Pros- Generally silicone implants are ideal for the very thin patient with small breasts. In the larger patient with more implant coverage, the advantages of saline out weight the advantages of silicone. In addition, most women report that silicone implants feel more like natural breasts. Finally, silicone implants are less likely to shift, as they tend to keep their position better, which produces less folds and ripples.
Cons- Because silicone ruptures are hard to spot (often called silent ruptures), they can only be spotted by MRI scans, and therefore the FDA suggest scans every 3 years. Though the implant will likely have to be removed, there has been no connection to disease of any kind. Finally, because the shape is solid, the incision will be slightly bigger, thus giving more scarring.
Which implant is right for you?
This is a difficult question to answer, as it completely varies with the individual. During a consultation with our highly skilled Dr. Song, every aspect of the breast implants will be thoroughly explained, including the recovery time and pain to be expected. The most important element of choosing your implant is the customizing of your individual profile. Dr. Song will help you find the best fit for your body by factoring your age, weight, current size as well as your overall lifestyle. The trip to Dodream Plastic Surgery, Seoul Korea was several years in the making for Min. Born with a slender frame, Min who is of Chinese decent, had a desire of one day showing off her beautiful, full breasts. Until her recent mammoplasty (breast augmentation) at Dodream Plastic Surgery, located in Seoul South Korea, this was just a dream.
Min’s aesthetic journey started off with a consultation with Song Jae Yong, a doctor at Dodream and a member of the Korean Association of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons. The consultation took under an hour and Min barely needed to ask any questions, as he was so thorough with all the information. In the end, she opted for the tear drop implants that were placed through the armpit to minimize visible scarring. Dr. Song was extremely professional and knowledgeable, thus helping to fully mentally prepare Min for the procedure; Min’s nervousness eased with his gentle care.
A 12 hour fast was necessary to ensure the body handled the general anesthesia, which would put her out for a little under 4 hours. She made the final preparations- such as changing and cleaning her face- and Song placed his final marks on her body. Then lights out! While she slept, the silicone implants were inserted under the muscle of the breasts (for a more through explanation of the procedures, please check out our procedures page). The immediate after math was a bit painful and caused swelling, which Dr. Song was careful to mention during the consultation. After only one day spent in bed, Min was up and ready to perform her daily routines. Though the pain was a bit inhibitive, it was tolerable.
The next few days consisted of several check-up and taking it easy, though the results were well worth the inconvenience she explained. Min’s excitement about her new body was written all over her face during our “I am just so excited, I can’t believe I actually did this! I can’t wait to see the final results”. The implants will take a good month to settle, and the swelling should persist about the same time. “I would recommend this to any woman who wants to fight her insecurities and feel better inside her own body. Personally, I can’t wait to finally wear swimsuits, and low cut shirts”. Though, Min is indeed thrilled about showcasing her newly shaped cleavage, she insists that the operation was for no one but herself. This does seem to be the case with women who choose to undergo this operation. The vast majority of women profess to have an elevation of confidence and boost in general self-esteem, not to mention a heightened sense of sexual prowess.
For now, while she recovers, Min is busy shopping for new shirts and bikinis. For sure, this summer season will be special like never before.
